Mary Bruno
Owner - Bruno Press
Mary Bruno is a designer, printmaker, and unapologetic ink-slinger who has been keeping the craft of letterpress alive—and pushing it forward—for over 25 years. From her Vandercook #4 proof press, she creates everything from irreverent greeting cards to large-scale installations, blending bold typography, hand-carved linoleum block prints, and a design sensibility rooted in grit and wit.

As the owner of Bruno Press in St. Joseph, Minnesota, Mary inherited her father’s printshop and turned it into a design-driven community hub where creativity explodes—through workshops, residencies, and collaborations that merge old-school craft with modern design culture.
Her work has been exhibited, collected, and commissioned across the region, and her reputation as a designer who never shies away from humor, activism, or experimentation keeps her at the forefront of the letterpress world.

Whether she’s carving blocks, teaching the next generation of makers, or turning a 100-year-old press into a playground for ideas, Mary’s practice is as much about connection as it is about design. She believes the best work lives at the intersection of craft, community, and a well-placed F-bomb.
